About Varazdin - General Information About Varazdin in Croatia
Varazdin is one of the most important tourist centres of the entire northern Croatia situated nearby the Drava River and it is frequently referred to as a baroque city due to its baroque style, monuments and spirit. It has a very interesting history.
Varazdin attract many visitors during the entire year. The Old City is a site of a number of buildings dating from the medieval times, which you shouldn't miss out on seeing when you come to Varazdin. Palaces and old buildings show the beauty of baroque, rococo and classicism. This city is also sometimes called “the city of bell towers”. The Croatian National Theater is an everlasting reminder of Croatian culture just like the Varazdin Folklore ensemble. And advantages of the Drava River are fully used — angling, recreation, sports. Varazdin has one thing in common with Split - the statue of Grgur Ninski.
Every year, since 1971, at the beginning of autumn, a baroque music festival has been held. Streets and squares seem to come back to life during September, when the street festival occurs (Spancir fest).
